Assembly
Can identify Yellow, Green, and Red LED warning lights and their meaningfor battery charge and air flow/filter safety
Understand proper assembly and disassembly of filter media onto helmet (Cuffs and Shrouds).
Understand proper assembly and disassembly of filter cover to helmet (Cuffs and Shrouds).
Understand proper assembly and disassembly of the face seal or head cover (Cuffs or Shrouds or Hoods) to the system.
Donning
Understand importance of proper positioning and adjustment of headbands for Helmet security and stability, and for proper visualization of the safety LEDs.
Knowledge of proper adjustment of ratchet suspension knob for headband tightness, comfort and secure positioning.
Know how to properly connect and disconnect power cordfrom helmet to battery.
Filter Usage
Know to replace filter media if blood and/or bodily fluids contaminate filter media.
Know proper procedures for disposal according to the hospital’s contaminated waste disposal protocol.
Know how to identify when filter media needs replacement due to wear and tear.
Battery Operation
Know to plug charger into wall outlet BEFORE plugging into battery.
Know how to re-charge Lithium-Ion battery on the charger.
Understand meaning of Red and Green LED conditions on charger.
Know NOT to leave battery on chargerafter it is fully charged.
Charger Operation
Know that is it recommended to connect the charger to an appropriate Surge Protector that is, in turn, connected to a proper mains power source.
Know that charging MAXAIR Li-Ion Batteries should only be performed in an isolated location, away from personnel and patients not directly involved in monitoring battery charging, and away from flammable materials.
Know to monitor battery charging and to remove battery from charger when the charger LED turns green or when maximum charging time has been completed.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Know to use Quaternary Ammonia, Bleach or Alcohol spray/wipes to clean outer surface of helmet, filter cover, lens and battery.
Know that all face seals/head covers are designed for one time use.
Know NOTto immerse helmet w/fan module into water
General User Precautions
Understand that MAXAIR Systems are NOT intended for use in atmospheres IMMEDIATELY DANGEROUS TO LIFE OR HEALTH (IDLH).
Understand that MAXAIR Systems are NOT for use in atmospheres containing less than 19.5% or more than 25% oxygen –MAXAIR DOES NOT produce oxygen.
Know not to use system if airflow is less than 6 CFM.
Know that MAXAIR Systems are NOT for use against oily particulates (paint, mist, oil mist or detergents).
